Outline of Subject
The French course is split into three main topics: Identity & Culture, Local, National, International and Global Areas of Interest and Current & Future Study & Employment. Each topic area is examined in four skill exams (Listening, Speaking, Reading & Writing) at the end of the GCSE course. The GCSE continues to build on the grammar and topic areas studied at Key Stage 3.

How will I learn?
Languages involves a lot of independent learning to be done at home (vocabulary learning). Listening, reading, writing and speaking skills will be developed in the classroom.
Where will it take me?
Languages can open the door to a variety of different careers both in the UK and abroad (remember Spanish is spoken in 21 different countries – that’s over 440 million speakers!). Careers include interpreters, translators, air crew, pilots, teachers, jobs in hospitality to name but a few!
