Emergency Academy Closure
During an emergency such as heavy snow fall or a Health and Safety concern, we make every effort to keep the school open. However there may be times when we have to close, either for a full day or during the day.
In the event of snow, please note the following:
Assume Park Lane Academy will be open in the first instance.
Check our website – we will add a banner message to the home page if we are closed or partially open.
Check Teams- If school is closed then staff will work from home and set work for students on TEAMS. Please ask your child to log in and complete the work set.
Procedures in the event of unforeseen circumstances:
There may be occasions where the school needs to close for emergency reasons, e/g electrical/heating/water failures. In these circumstances, announcements will be made on the school website and a text message will be sent to parents/ carers.
In the event of an emergency / snow please check the following:
Text messages/emails – we will let you know if the academy is going to be closed for the day as early as we can. We will also let you know if the academy needs to close during the day by text/email. If you do not receive text messages/emails from the academy, please let the office have your mobile number/email address.

It is unlikely that any students in Years 7 to 11 will be sent home before lunch unless it would be unsafe to remain on school premises. If a decision is made to close the school, students will notify their parents as to the instructions for departing. All students shall remain on site under supervision until they have either left on a school bus, been collected by parents or have parental permission to make their own way home.
